The new museum acts as an urban linchpin between Makasiiniranta and the central port area, extending the greenery from Tähtitorninvuori through its publicly accessible ramps to the northern square.
Complementary to the introspective nature of the exhibition white cube, the building envelope opens around the public areas, framing the city as object of the museum.
The use of natural materials improves the carbon footprint and forms a neutral framework for the museum‘s diverse content.
